Down Under in Southaven
I had every intention of celebrating Obama's inauguration at a restaurant with an authentic American meal. Somehow, it did not work out that way. Seeing that I went out on Sunday night as opposed to Tuesday night, and it was at Outback Steakhouse in Southaven, MS, I am not quite sure it can even count as an inaugural celebration meal. Nevertheless, it was a good one. It was actually my mother's choice, and I was just kind of there for the ride. :) We started out with the coconut shrimp. These are probably really bad for you, but the marmalade sauce they serve with them fools you into thinking they could have some redeeming nutritional value. Then we moved on to our salads with blue cheese and pecans before digging into our main dish: steak and chicken! I rarely stray from "Chicken on the Barbie" when I go to this place. If you like to drink, you can do that, too. We prefer wine, but there are several beers to choose from--- the Gold Coast Ritas rock here in the summertime! Alll in all, Outback is not a bad deal for a chain in MS.
